I have been a college educator and health educator for over 25 years. I have worked with K through middle school students throughout the past 5 years. I enjoyed working as a site director and program lead with the YMCA public school K-8th grade programs in Portland, Oregon. I organized art and science activities as well as coordinate indoor and outdoor recreation (games & sports). Since 2016 I have been a tutor for 1st thru middle school students in math, English, reading, writing, social studies and science throughout the greater Portland area, tutoring at their homes . In 2019 I served as an instructional assistant for Portland Public Schools in a Special Education resource room, working with students one on one and in small groups. Being there for kids to encourage and see their growth as students is a real joy to me. I seek to continue this tutoring work both online and in person.
Education & Certification
Undergraduate Degree: University of Redlands - Bachelor in Arts, Physical Education Teaching and Coaching
Graduate Degree: Oregon State University - Doctor of Education, Educational, Instructional, and Curriculum Supervision
My interests since my girlhood have ranged from sports (tennis & swimming) to science and outdoor recreation (Girl Scouts). I love to be active and workout aerobically (jog/walk, bike & hike) 4-5 days/week. I have traveled abroad in Europe, Russia, New Zealand and Australia since my college days. I have traveled to as many national parks as possible. I support several organizations - some of which are the Sierra Club, the Arbor Society, The National Women's History Museum and The Nature Conservancy. I like to share these interests as I get to know students, and I want students to share their interests and hobbies.
