I have a Masters degree in Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. I taught all the lower division Calculus courses as a teaching assistant. I taught 7th grade math as well as being a tutor for remedial 7th and 8th grade math. I tutored math in high school, college and since. I have a love for mathematics and a desire to share that with others. At one point I could do the entire derivation of Calculus in my head, which I would do from time to time. Topology was my favorite subject and I memorized all the proofs. I recently reviewed my upper division textbook, working all the problems.
I have a love for learning and am a life-long learner. Besides mathematics I love studying history and theology. I take a great interest in health and well-being. I like to keep my mind as sharp as possible. I also like to do memorization. I memorize everything I can. I think that one of the chief joys in life is learning and mastering new things.
I enjoy helping others learn. I understand learning differences and learning styles. I think that learning how to learn is one of my greatest accomplishments. I try to look at problems as challenges that can be overcome. I think that learning or mastering a subject or skill gives life purpose and is very satisfying. Sometimes this can be very frustrating and discouraging. Having someone to guide you and encourage you can make all the difference. I know that many times I wished I could just ask someone how to do something. It is so important to keep a positive mental attitude and to believe that you will succeed.
