A good teacher has the ability to make a life changing impact in the academic career of a student. I have seen this adage work out in my own student life. I was fortunate enough to work with some great teachers who made an extraordinary student out of me.
All great teachers have a few things in common. They are kind. They are encouraging. They instill the right attitude into their students. They empower students to succeed. They are able to make students like and enjoy the subjects that the students dread.
I can say without any shred of doubt in my mind that i believe in all of the above and live by these principles.
When we enter a building we always do so at the first floor. Learning always starts from the foundation. Deficiencies in the foundation lead to issues later on. While teaching any skill I ensure that the student understands the concept underlying the skill easily. Once the concept is clear, the student learns how to apply them to simple, average and complicated problems, first with the tutor and then on their own. There is only one way to drink the ocean and it is to drink it one sip at a time. There is no substitute for hard work. A teacher succeeds when the student enjoys the work they are doing and understands how it contributes to their success in life and academics.
