Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is that, in order to be effective, the teacher must love the subject matter and have a great care for transmitting it to the student.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

After introducing myself and learning a bit about the student, I would focus on the goals of the student and make a game plan for reaching those goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

A student will become an independent learner if they are shown how to go about analyzing and reducing problems to their component parts and tackling each part separately in order to reach the goal.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Students stay motivated only if they believe the end is worth their trouble and that it is attainable. A good teacher will encourage both of these attitudes.
