I have been an English teacher for 20 years. I can't believe that much time has gone by! I love what I do and I love working with students, so it has been time well spent.
The many courses that I have taught over the years (see resume) have provided me with diverse strategies that allow me tailor my instruction to the individual needs of my students.
One of the most influential courses in my teaching career has been AP Language and Composition. This course, and the intense training involved in order to be an instructor, redefined the writing process and the analysis of text for both me and my students. I taught that course for 10 years and not only did my students achieve high success on the College Board AP exam, but their writing improved exponentially.
I now teach English 8, and still employ these writing/critical reading philosophies and effective teaching practices.
Outside of my classroom, I have tutored many students over the years in a private setting. I have helped with drafting, organizing, and editing papers for a number of subject areas, as well as moving students through understanding complex text. I have also prepared students, over the course of my entire career, for standardized tests: 10th & 8th grade MCAS, SAT, and AP Language & Composition. I can provide students with effective test-taking strategies.
I look forward to meeting new clients through Varsity Tutors so that I can assure your academic success!

In my personal life, I enjoy running, and suffer through the Holyoke St. Patrick's 10K each year! My two sons have started running that with me, which is a thrill. Of course I love the outdoors and frequently take my 2 dogs and sons on hikes and adventures, like camping.
