Hi! My name is Kristy, an instructor specializing in Mandarin, Math, and Science for Varsity Tutors. My teaching style revolves around simplifying big, complicated concept into engaging, fun, and digestible lessons; learning via experience rather than rote memorization.
When not tutoring students, I'm pursuing my MPH at College of Global Public Health in NYU.
Before moving to New York, I studied Biological Science at the University of California, Riverside.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teachers should engage with students personally as well as academically. I like to give students choices rather than directives, and they will feel empowered to learn. Also, all students are individual, and everyone learns in their own unique way.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
-Get to know the student and expectations. -Determine the student's knowledge. -Collaborate with the student on a plan of action.
