About Me

I got my start teaching as a high school senior, preparing freshmen to serve the elderly in a yearlong social action program. The summer before college, I tutored elementary school math one on one. I taught K-8 grade art after school during my final college year at a private school. With a bachelor's degree and graduate work in biology, I was a substitute teacher at a public charter school and research scientist. Now, I tutor elementary and middle school students ranging from special needs to gifted and talented across the country. In my initial session with students, I find out what they want to achieve during the instruction and their future goals. I use interactive visuals to connect what they learn in the classroom to the real world. Breaking down difficult material for clarity is what I enjoy doing most. Critical thinking and study skills are important, so I assist students with those items as well. Let me know how I can help you succeed.
