I was born and raised in Venezuela. I have been a teacher and a private tutor for more than 10 years. After completing my Bachelors degree in Psychology I worked as a Child Psychotherapist while working as a Piano Teacher in my hometown's Conservatory. I have worked on professional-personal training for adults after completing a Specialization in Group Dynamics and a Masters degree in Management. I am a certified teacher in Elementary, Bilingual (English-Spanish) and Special Education.
I am a Child Development Specialist and my broader experience is with students with special needs. I can adapt and accommodate the curriculum to make the content accesible to the student through different types of materials and tools. We can focus on the IEP goals (Individualized Education Plan) if the student has one and work on the content of the subjects to accelerate the learning process.
I have experience teaching Spanish and Italian. I love languages. Spanish is my mother tongue and I focus on providing students with tools and strategies to develop their grammar, listening, and reading skills, as well as speaking abilities which include vocabulary acquisition and fluency.
I am very passionate about teaching. The time for a class or for a tutoring session is that time when the student discovers how fascinating learning can be. I believe all students are capable of giving the best of themselves, I like being that source of encouragement and motivation to facilitate learning to my students. I am devoted to provide them with meaningful experiences and material that allow making connections with previous experiences and personal interests.
In my opinion, a tutor is like a mirror: if there is anything that a student is not able to see or learn, the mirror-tutor will help him by making his reflections. Learning can be very fun and easy!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

When I just start working with a student, I find I am successful when I engage them in the subject/topic based on their learning style. For a visual student and young learners, I use lots of visuals. For auditory students, I find the rhythm in words and separate ideas to work in chunks and so on.
