While I'm a marketer during the day, I've always had a passion for teaching - especially Spanish. It all started in high school when I hosted a foreign exchange student from Costa Rica for a semester. I loved the experience and learning the language. As a result, I took Spanish all through high school, scored a 5 on the AP exam and majored in it in college. I lived and studied in both Costa Rica and Spain where I perfected my acumen and broadened my cultural horizons. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Penn State and also have my MBA from Indiana University (go Big Ten!).
I've been tutoring on-and-off for years now and my approach is always one of mutual respect and understanding. I take the time to understand what your learning style is to best develop a plan for you to succeed. Starting with a strong academic foundation on the principles of the language is always a great place to start, but I also love to incorporate music, pop culture, sports, and news into the lessons so you can see how what you're learning applies to the real world. It also makes learning the language a lot more fun!
Whether you're preparing for an exam, need help with homework, or looking to learn Spanish as a hobby, I look forward to working with you!
I'm bilingual and have experience tutoring Spanish and ESL to high school, university, and adult students. I've also lived in Costa Rica and Spain and have an intimate understanding of the culture.
I'm happy to meet you in person at your home, my home, or a neutral location. I also do online tutoring. Contact me today for a meet-and-greet and we can get started.
