What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is centered on the student. Everyone learns differently, and as a tutor, it's my responsibility to figure out how to connect students to content in ways that are clear, engaging and specific.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first tutoring session, I would want to focus on getting to know the student, understanding her learning style, and setting academic and/or personal goals for future sessions however. At the same time, I would want to get a sense of what the student already knew, to build confidence and knowledge based on existing areas of success and competency.
