I am a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese. I received my Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. I worked as a Mandarin Chinese teacher in University College Dublin in Ireland for 5 years before I came to US. I have extensive experience of teaching a wide range of Chinese language modules from secondary school classes, adult and evening classes, to postgraduate and undergraduate degree courses, from Chinese language and culture courses, intensive Chinese language courses of different levels to business Chinese courses, from classroom teaching to online teaching. All these teaching experience improved my ability to integrate student-centered pedagogy and multiple interactive approaches into actual teaching. I am also experienced in helping students prepare HSK test and YCT test. I am warm and friendly , responsible and patient, and I can't wait to meet you and help you reach your goals and have fun in learning Chinese!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe in a student-centered approach to learning, where students take autonomy and responsibility in their own learning process. My responsibility as a teacher or tutor is to facilitate and guide this learning process, not only to increase motivation and effort from students but also recognizing different learning styles.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

The most important thing I do in a typical first session with a student is to understand his/her purpose and expectation of learning this subject, and try to increase his/her motivation and interests.
