I am currently a high school teacher with four-years experience teaching Regents bearing Biology (Living Environment), Chemistry, Ecology, and Earth Science. I completed my undergraduate work at Brandeis University and received a B.S. in Biology, and B.A. in International & Global Studies. I conducted my graduate studies at Fordham University and received an M.S. in Secondary Science Education. I am currently certified in New York State for Biology 7 - 12 and am pursuing a secondary certification in SPED 7 - 12.

My approach to tutoring is simple: learning does not come easily if it cannot be made digestible. In this light, I employ a range of techniques to engage and drive my students towards their own litmus of success. I love integrating games, technology, or a points system to support students. If the first approach does not work, I am open and flexible to hearing feedback from the students and their parents in the interest of maximizing student learning.

While my background is in secondary science education, my passion is in literacy education. I have worked with students from as young as Kindergarten through the college level in reading with fluency and a critical/analytical eye. This has lended me naturally into a writing tutor, allowing me to coach my students into becoming stronger writers.

In working with students at the elementary level, I have also had the opportunity to explore Common Core expectations in ELA and Mathematics. Many of my students utilize Singapore Math, Go Math, Math in Focus, Eureka Math, or Prentice Hall Math curriculums, and I have developed quite a familiarity with these texts.

I have worked with over 500 students in preparing for the Living Environment, Earth Science, and Chemistry New York State Regents in the last 4 years. I work with a range of resources including the Barron's Prep Books, EarthComm textbooks, and my self-made prep materials.
