I come from northern China so I speak standard Mandarin. I have a Bachelor degree from Peking University, Beijing, and a MBA from the University of New Mexico. With my in-depth understanding of the culture and language of both countries, I will be a more effective tutor for you. I have passion for languages learning, not only through many years of my own experience, but also through tutoring others. Before coming to the US, I managed an ELS school and also taught English there. During my 20 years in the US, besides working full-time as an biomedical researcher, I have tutored English and Chinese to my family, friends and new immigrants. I believe that a language is inseparable from its culture and an increased understanding of a culture can greatly enhance the enjoyment of learning the language. As your tutor, I will understand your needs and work together with you to achieve your goals.

The client's needs come first. How can you help a student become an independent learner? Chinese Mandarin shares some common language patterns with English and certainly also has her own unique language patterns. I will help the clients to recognize these patterns so that they could use them as a tool for independent learning. How would you help a student stay motivated?
