Hi, I am David. I was born and raised in Houston and attended St. Thomas High School. After graduating high school, I attended Baylor University for a brief time before transferring to Metropolitan State University of Denver in Colorado. I graduated from there in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and a minor in political science. While I was in college I worked for the student-run newspaper. I started as a copy editor and reporter and worked my way up to serve as the paper's editor in chief my senior year. Since graduating from college, I have spent my professional career as a journalist, and have worked for a number of newspapers in different editor roles. I recently resigned from the journalism profession and am working to become a certified teacher in Texas.
I am an accomplished media professional with a strong command of both written and verbal forms of the English language. I am driven by a passion to effectively share knowledge by providing engaging course work designed to enlighten students and help them foster a love of learning. I am dedicated to applying developed interpersonal communication skills to create a productive and proactive environment for students that is based on trust and idea generation. I have excellent command of the English language and am well versed in literature as well as AP, MLA, and Chicago style. I have spent a career helping people become better writers and can do the same for any students who need help in that area. I can also help students with reading, grammar, spelling, and public speaking.
