I am passionate about helping students learn math and believe that anyone willing to put in the time and effort can be successful at it. I recently received my BS in Statistics from Virginia Tech, where I spent a lot of time tutoring students in various math and statistics classes. I got my MS in Statistics from the University of Illinois where I worked as a TA for different stats classes. Currently I tutor, do freelance data analysis and work at a math learning center.

What is your teaching philosophy?
To have the student guide us using what they know, but work collaboratively when they struggle.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Determine what their tutoring goals are and establishing a timeline.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Let them work independently - don't feed solutions without explanations.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Break up the work.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Try a different explanation or concept.
