What is your teaching philosophy?

You haven't truly learned a subject until you can explain it to an idiot.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Introduce myself and gauge the student's proficiency in the subject.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can't. A student must have their own personal motivation to learn and succeed. All I can do is to remind them of that motivation.
