I have been teaching Spanish and ESL for over 11 years with all age groups. For the past 4 years I have taught at the college level (beginning to advanced classes). I am passionate about helping others learn about other cultures and languages because I think everyone should be equipped to be a part of a global market. I believe everyone can and should learn another language. I tutor Spanish (all levels) as well as ESL. As I tutor I am flexible and accommodating. I received my Bachelors in Education and Spanish from Concordia University. I then completed a Masters in Spanish Literature and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am currently enrolled in a program to receive a second Masters in Curriculum and Instruction also from UWM. Outside of teaching and being a student I enjoy traveling, coffee, Latin dancing, reading, and running.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Everyone can learn, but everyone learns differently.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know the student a bit better.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By encouraging the students to use his/her resources to find answers to questions he/she has.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By showing the student how Spanish can be used in the real world.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I try a different approach to teaching it.
