I am a student at the University of Oregon, currently in the education program majoring in Elementary School teaching and minoring in Special Education. I have recently extended my studies into a classroom setting, and enjoy working with 4th and 5th graders at Edison Elementary School improving upon their math skills. These students are diverse, varying in understanding, ability, and background, providing me with the tutoring experience I need to understand how to engage all types of learners.

I believe students should actively engage in their learning, and should have a hands-on experience when tackling new material. Learning is about conversation, and as I tutor, I aim to guide this conversation while encouraging students’ participation in the investigation of their own learning. My goal for students each session is to come out with better understanding of the given material, enjoy the process of learning, and be encouraged by their own success.
