I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida where I pursued a dual degree; I received a Bachelor of Arts in English: Creative Writing, a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, a minor in Marketing, and a TEFL certificate.
I love the intricate nature of language and it's my mission to make learning fun and engaging. I have many activities and resources in my arsenal that foster learning and retention. I firmly believe students shouldn't forget what they've learned as soon as they've taken a test, so I've created a teaching method that actually promotes learning through hands-on activities, mnemonic devices, and culturally-relevant, interesting applications. I'm fluent in Spanish, armed with a degree in the language, and I have even been to Spain twice to practice my competency and accent in the Spanish language.
My diverse education and experience have prepared me for any type of learner. For two semesters, I served as a teaching assistant at UCF's CMMS where I taught English language learners and administered the TOEFL after preparing students for the exam. While teaching high school poetry at Oak Ridge High I made it my mission to modernize the curriculum so I could instill my love of literature and poetry in the students. I've co-authored a TEFL textbook that was published by National Geographic, so I know grammar, mechanics, and writing inside and out. I have taken methods classes designed for elementary and secondary education, so I know how to teach learners of all ages and how to tailor my approach based on one’s level, age, needs, and subject. I'm here to get students to where they need to be. As you can tell from my profile, I have experience in many subjects, but due to my love of language, my favorite subjects to tutor are Spanish, TEFL, and writing. So let me ask; how may I help you?
