About Me

I am a soon-to-be graduate of Temple University. In May I will receive a Bachelor of Arts in History with on American history and imperialism. During my senior year of high school, I traveled to the Navajo Nation in Arizona to tutor Navajo children and assist teachers in running an after-school program for troubled children. While studying at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. before transferring to Temple, I helped instruct elementary and middle school-aged children as a member of Kid Power Inc. after-school program. My past experience also includes tutoring high school and college students my age in history and critical writing, including the AP U.S. History exam and IB History exams. I am the most passionate about History but I also tutor students in English, Literature, and Critical Writing. In helping students study history, I focus on analyzing primary source documents and getting students engaged by focusing on events, people, and narratives in which they are most interested. It is my firm belief that education is about helping students realize their own capacity for continuous growth and learning, not simply imparting information. As the old saying goes, if the student is not better than the teacher, the teacher has failed. In my spare time, I enjoy reading fiction as well as books about history, watching old films, strategic board games such as Risk, listening to music, and playing guitar.
