I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature. My focus was English and Russian Language and Literature. While at Berkeley I began tutoring ESL students in English grammar and essay writing. Since graduation I completed my TEFL certification and worked as an English teacher in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong I became familiar with the SSAT, and tutored several students of different levels. I have worked with students of all different ages and learning levels, and my goal has been to help them communicate themselves in written and spoken English. This has included teaching them academic, creative, and personal writing. The ability to write in a clear and engaging style is crucial to any student's success, even if the last creative essay they write is their personal statement for a college application. So few schools teach this skill, and even fewer teachers have the time to give students the individual attention that they need. I enjoy working with students who are learning to express themselves through writing, whether they need help with English grammar, literature analysis, or personal style.
