About Me

I am an Assistant Director and 8th grade history teacher at a charter school in downtown Phoenix. I previously taught 3rd and 6th grade all subjects (math, science, history, language arts, writing and phonics). I have a teaching license in elementary education and have obtained a Master's in Elementary Education at Arizona State University. I also obtained my B.A. from Michigan State University with a double major in Humanities-Pre-Law and Women's Studies. I have been tutoring children for five years. While attending Michigan State University, I tutored 5th graders at a inner city elementary school as well as a preschooler and kindergartener whom attended a Montessori school. While in Phoenix, during my first year of teaching I tutored a 1st grader as well as students of various grades K-8 at my school. While I am passionate about every subject I teach, I especially enjoy math, english language arts and history. Mastering these subjects are pivotal to the success of elementary students and I enjoy creating different activities to help kids become excited about and invested in the subject. I believe that it is important to treat each child as an individual and customize the work to fit their needs and interests. Tutoring is much more than providing academic assistance to children, it is about building trusting relationships and instilling in them confidence to help them reach their full potential. I am very well rounded with many different interests. I love to spend time with family and friends, read, exercise, enjoy the outdoors, camp, roller blade, travel, cook, music, movies, arts and crafts, and the list goes on!
