I am a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Sciences, and also attended Graduate classes while enrolled there. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences from American Sentinel University in Birmingham, Alabama. I have tutored students on many occasions in a variety of subjects. My strengths, however, lie in math and science. I have worked with students of varying ages, from grade school through high school level. My greatest satisfaction is working with a student when they 'get it', understanding a concept that had been confusing or uncertain. While this can be gradual or sudden, you can really see it when it makes sense. I also enjoy helping students prepare for Standardized Tests. My goal is to help them advance, while keeping the material interesting. It is also my hope that I can help students reduce the stress they may feel when preparing to take these tests. I believe that if you continue to learn throughout your life, you will always be growing.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking, and just about anything to do with water - swimming, sailing and scuba diving. I am an avid scuba diver (PADI Certified Scuba Diving Instructor #68581). I have been diving in Hawaii, California, and multiple places in the Caribbean, to name a few. When I can train, I like to distance swim. In April 2012, I swam from Alcatraz to San Francisco, as well as the length of the Golden Gate Bridge.
