Though I hail from north Texas, I attended Principia College, a small liberal arts institution in Illinois. There, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English, with an emphasis in literary studies. As a student and Postgraduate Teaching Intern, I gained a great deal of tutoring experience in writing and literature. I took a rigorous training course to become a tutor for Principia’s writing center my junior year, and thereafter served as a peer Writing Tutor, helping students with papers in a variety of subjects, for a year and a half. After graduating, I continued to tutor students writing literature papers as a teaching assistant for the College’s English department for a year. Now that I’m back in Texas, running a small student residence near UT, I’m grateful that I get to continue tutoring! I absolutely love working with students and seeing them grow as writers and thinkers. I work from the basis that all my students are capable of successfully completing any task or assignment given to them, and I serve to share tools and strategies that will help them do so, while also showing them much support and compassion. When I’m not working, I’m most likely cycling, reading and writing at the park, or exploring new foods and places around town.
