I was born and raised in Long Beach, California and moved across the country to New Orleans to pursue my B.A. in English at Loyola University New Orleans. I taught high school English in that city for three years until I could no longer resist the pull of Southern California. Here, I continued to teach in private and charter schools for six years while I worked toward my teaching credential at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
I firmly believe that all learning can be interesting, and I try to impart my enthusiasm to my students. It is important to help students relate content to their own lives and environments so that they learn on a deeper level and can apply their knowledge in the future. As an English teacher, I love tutoring writing skills, literature, and vocabulary development, but I also really enjoy tutoring Algebra and SAT math. My well-rounded background gives me an advantage in SAT preparation, and my easy-going personality makes tests less stressful.
When I am not working, I am usually swing dancing! I also spend my time reading, crocheting, and taking selfies with my cat.
