About Me

I am a graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Education. I received my Master of Education inPrevention Science and Practice with a focus on Counseling for Adolescents. I received my Master of Arts in English Literature at Peking University in China. Since college, I havebeen enjoying working with young people, tutoring college students in writing academic, and application essays; children and college students in Mandarin Chinese; adults in Newton who are trying to improve their English (ESL); and high school students in English, Algebra, and study skills. While I tutor several subjects, I am most passionate about Mandarin Chinese and essay writing. In my experiencehelping students who take an interest in learning Chinese and Chinese culture, I always found that learning and teaching can happen to both the tutor and the client. I also found that helping students construct their academic or application essays is a good chance for me to know my client and to help the client build a better academic future. I am a believer of "Education can change people and society". I believe that problem solving skills, study skills and autonomy are highly related with each other, and encouragement always works as a catalyst in learning. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, writing stories and blogs, swimming, and playing table-tennis.
