I am a recent graduate of Texas A&M University with a dual degree in Political Science and History. I grew up the son of two teachers from a long line of teachers which now also includes my older sister. While attending Texas A&M, I worked as an external relations intern for the University helping to craft press releases as well as create strategies to get prospective students interested in attending Texas A&M University. After graduation, I went on to work for the state Public Education Committee in the House of Representatives for Chairman Aycock where I helped develop legislation affecting students in both public and private education, as well as those taking part in charter programs. My greatest work so far has been helping with the passage of HB5 in the 83rd legislative session that saw to the reduction of state standardized tests from 15 to 5 and created new graduation requirements allowing for greater opportunity for post-secondary education. Most recently I worked on a political campaign overseeing 15 counties in a statewide election, developing policy statements for citizens and meeting with state officials. I will attend Texas Tech University in the fall of 2014 where I will be pursuing my juris doctorate. My knowledge extends into a deep understanding of writing and analytical skills that have developed with my studies at A&M as well as my work experience in both the public and private sectors. This knowledge extends to current and past political systems, both domestic and abroad, as well as various historical time periods. By helping tutor students, I hope to gain necessary experience in what problems are affecting students and what aid helps alleviate those issues.
