I love to have fun while tutoring! Whether it's a silly example or an
outrageous pneumonic device to remember a concept, I like to have a
good time while we learn. It doesn't have to be like pulling teeth. I
always look forward to my tutoring sessions! I am an MBA graduate from
the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business which is
constantly ranked as one of the best MBA programs in the nation. I
received my undergraduate B.S. in Business - Accountancy from Eastern
Illinois University. Now, I work as a Financial Analyst for PetSmart
performing testing and measuring the financial effectiveness and
impact of proposed new store initiatives. The best part is bringing
our pets to work on Fridays! I've tutored everyone from Jr. High to
College in Business, Statistics, Accounting, Economics, Math, and
other subjects. I also took part in a Supplemental Instruction Program
while completing my degree that can best be described as a TA/tutor
hybrid program. I enjoy spending time with my family, baseball,
traveling, and running... and tutoring! :)

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Learning should be fun! If it's painful, it won't stick.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Spend a few minutes getting to know them! Then, I like to find out what kind of student they are and where they are with the material. Then, I dive right in.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Try everything to explain it in a way that they can understand. Once we find a method that clicks.... repeat, repeat, repeat.
