I am a Texas certified English Language Arts instructor for grades 7-12 and have taught high school English for the last four years. Prior to teaching high school, I tutored students in English and History for three years. Although most of my teaching and tutoring experience is with high school students, I have worked with elementary and middle school students, helping them develop their reading, writing, and studying skills. As an English teacher, I know how to plan instruction which accommodates for varied skill levels and learning styles. I am adept at assisting students in varied writing styles such as essay writing and creative writing. I have also helped students revise and edit their college application essays and prepared them for the reading and writing portions of the SAT exam. My goal as an educator is to help students see reading and writing as enjoyable and meaningful endeavors through finding texts they love and developing their own unique writing style and voice.
