I am a native Houstonian who attended HBU, and then earned a law degree from the University of Houston. My first tutoring experience actually happened during law school, when I used a writing tutor to help me improve with my own writing. I found the experience very helpful, and was able to go on to be published in a law journal. I have also taught English as a Second language for the past two years to adults. These experiences have taught me the importance of creating a positive and encouraging learning environment, where students feel safe to express themselves and ask questions. I also try to explain concepts in multiple ways to help my student grasp the concepts.
I enjoy tutoring writing and essays. Writing, both creatively and technically, is a necessary skill to succeed in today's media-centered world, and I enjoy helping my students succeed in this area.
In my free time, I enjoy being active outside with sports like cycling, swimming and running. I love spending time with my little niece, reading, and listening to music.
