I am currently pursuing a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas – Austin. I previously received my B.A. in Mathematics and Spanish from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. I have always loved mathematics for the fun (yes, fun!) challenge of problem-solving and have tutored/taught the subject for several years. My teaching style is very student-oriented and I like to teach my students that they can easily learn the tools necessary to solve mathematical puzzles and love to see their confidence grow as they realize their own potential. I respect that each student has his or her strengths and weaknesses and I do not accept that math is undoable for any student. I encourage students to approach each problem and concept in their own particular way so that they can discover their own problem-solving technique and grow confident in their abilities. I also work with my students to improve their organizational and study skills, which helps in all of their coursework. I like getting to know my students and for them to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and even challenging any mistakes I may make. I was born and raised in Houston, but have lived in Baltimore, Gerihun (Sierra Leone), and now Austin. My favorite things to do during my time off are swimming, playing soccer, watching action/mystery movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
