ACT English Tutor • +52 Subjects

My name is Hyerin. I graduated in May 2016 from Case Western Reserve University with a BA in Economics (minor in Russian) and a MA in Bioethics. I am currently in my second year of medical school. Because of my diverse academic background, I am able to tutor in a wide range of topics, from Economics and math to Russian and ACT prep.I have prior experience tutoring as a peer tutor while at Case Western. I was available as a tutor for several economics courses, as well as Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. However, I was predominantly used as a macroeconomics and econometrics tutor.I am currently working as a Peer Leader in my medical school, holding review sessions for the first year students.I choose to tutor because I appreciate all that my education has given me and want to share what I have learned with others who may need help. I was given help from TAs, professors, and close friends while I made my way through school.

Fun! That is what is the difference between reading and learning. When the text is related to stories and examples that make sense, then the Ah! moment happens. You read the text and let me put it into examples to make sense!

Hello. Bom dia. Ola. Bonjour to everyone.I would like to welcome you to this little piece of me. I truly am excited that you are reading this. My avatar cant be as excited as I am!I want to share a few things about me that might help us understand each other better. As the eldest in my family, I put even more pressure on myself to do better than great than my parents did. I have been an energetic goofball all of my life and learned to be an effective scholar and charismatic companion at the same time. Seriously, I was (well maybe still am) the class clown since kindergarten. I always performed well in class and in physical education. My struggle was humbling myself so I could learn in a way that would help me retain information as well as be interested in the subjects I was studying. This was something I worked on A LOT in college.I wont say Im there yet, but Im sure my colleagues and professional accomplishments would say otherwise. I make sure to cherish where I came from, what Im capable of right now, and how I want to evolve tomorrow. I look at situations from many angles so I can understand others point of view and be able to help others interpret and understand the topic. Outside of that, I cheer for people making progress which is something I never appreciated until learning became difficult for me (if you are curious, ask me about learning gymnastics at age 22).Did I lose any of you? Well, if I did, they are probably Googling people that still use the word goofball. What I hope to show you is that I am a healthy mix of philosophy, education, and humor. One minute, I am advising you in how to restructure your sentences. Another minute, we are analyzing the comedic timing of a single-clap applause. In all cases, I am a person to make whatever we are discussing relevant to the task at hand. I look forward to sharing and learning with you as you look forward to it as well.Fun Facts about Troy.- Hes left-handed!- Hes bilingual!- He has lived in another country!- He doesnt like speaking in 3rd person!- His initials are BLT spelled backwards!

Hello, I have a B.A.in English and a minor in music from the University of Toledo. I will also be finishing a B.A. in Spanish next year, and have studied French extensively, as well. Right now, I'm working on a Masters degree in urban planning. I've lived in Mexico, Spain, France and Quebec, and have been tutoring children and adults in both languages since 2006. I've been primarily an English tutor, and that work has involved helping students and people in a wide variety of situations, such as tutoring teenagers in Spain in beginning English, European children whose parents are residing here and need to attend our schools, foreign businessmen and women who want to improve their English, and U.S. students of all ages. It's been a wonderful experience because I love languages so much. I always approach every lesson with a great deal of enthusiasm because I enjoy the challenge of seeing someone solve a problem, get past a sticking point, or make progress. I'm a very relaxed person, so I'm easy to get a long with. I enjoy getting to know students and learning about their interests, too, because that's critical in being able to illustrate some aspect of a lesson in a way that relates to things that mean more to them. Working with people of so many different backgrounds has taught me that there are multiple ways or angles from which to tackle a problem. I'm not dogmatic or stubborn. I'm very thorough, however, as I care deeply about these subjects and feel great when I feel the lesson has been communicated properly and that it's been meaningful and helpful to the student. In tutoring foreign languages, I take pride in accurate pronunciation. I enjoy phonics and the sounds of words, so I put a lot of care into that feature of language learning that I think gets overlooked. Also, I'm versatile when it comes to arranging a grammar lesson in a different manner that might be clearer to students. Sometimes, textbooks will be too rigid in the way that concepts are presented. It's important that you can impart a logical application of a language to the way you would use it in real life.I'm very passionate about education, and feel that it is underemphasized in our country, so I'm thrilled that I can make a contribution to it through tutoring. I make every effort to keep lessons from seeming like drudgery by harnessing my wide range of interests to enhance discussions. I feel my strong background in music, the arts, history and politics, as well as having been athletic all my life, allows me to relate to people not just in a scholarly perspective, but through art, current affairs and sports. I play tennis, do quite a bit of biking and hiking, and juggle. I've been playing the saxophone for many years and have added practicing piano in the last decade, mostly to help me understand the chords over which I improvise in jazz.

I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in International Relations and Spanish. Since graduating, I have been a substitute teacher for my local school district. I completed a 3-month long position as a Spanish 1 middle school and high school teacher. Even before substituting, I have been passionate about education and I've often volunteered in my free time as a youth tutor. I believe that everyone has the right to a quality education and it is my personal philosophy to enrich the lives of my students by providing them with the best experience that I can. Outside of the classroom, I spend my time frequenting farmers' markets, visiting art museums, and traveling as much as I can!

I love accounting and teaching students how it all comes together!I have been a CPA since 2001 with over 20 years of teaching/public accounting/industry experience combined. The areas I am most experienced in are Financial/Managerial/Auditing/Non-profit.I also have a Southern Accent if that might bother anyone or could potentially cause a problem for foreign students. I try to enunciate and speak slowly so you can absorb what I am saying but I will still pronounce things a little differently than most people.I look forward to working with you!!
