I am well familiar with all the techniques to achieve a higher score. I can also show a student how to study effectively so that they do well in school.

I am an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley in pursuit of a degree in Data Science. Prior experience has taught me that the difference between a wish and a goal is consistency. This ethos has enabled me to excel in primary school and allows me to continuously enjoy watching others make progress toward their academic objectives under my guidance.
I am currently learning how to do is to play the piano, and I can tell you first hand that practice and determination does make a difference! Outside of tutoring, I also love to dance, ski, and watch airplanes! Hope we can connect sometime soon. :)
I am currently pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering and Spanish at Virginia Tech. I have a strong academic record in my fields. I enjoy sharing knowledge and helping others overcome learning challenges. Through previous tutoring, I have developed excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. I am comfortable using online learning technologies and am committed to providing engaging, supportive lessons that help students reach their full potential.
I've helped several hundred students in a wide variety of subjects, from executive functioning to computer science to standardized testing. I also help students with general support in math and English. Most of my students are around 9-17, but I work well with students who are older and a little younger as well. I also work very well with students who have specific obstacles or requirements, such as neurodiversity support or schedules that change a lot. Most of my background is in computer science, from my college major to my experience hands-on over the past 10 years. Regardless of the subject, I believe every student's needs are unique and every student is able to achieve great things with the right preparation and support. My number one goal is to provide that whenever I can, both to the student and to their parents. I communicate with parents outside of sessions a lot to establish their expectations, better understand students, and recommend ways they can directly support their children in their journey as well.
I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am happy to accommodate and work with learners on the spectrum.
I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I am proud to be a part of Varsity Tutors! I am originally from San Antonio, TX; I completed my undergraduate education at Rice University in Houston where I received a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Currently, I am in my second year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.
I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.

Frequently Asked Questions
Logical Reasoning requires both speed and precision—students often struggle with distinguishing between similar answer choices, managing the 35-minute time constraint across 25 questions, and identifying the core logical structure of complex arguments. Many test-takers also find it difficult to recognize common question types (like assumption, strengthen, weaken, and flaw questions) quickly enough to apply the right strategy. Personalized tutoring helps you develop a systematic approach to each question type and build the pattern recognition skills that separate strong scorers from average ones.
Score improvement depends on your starting point and consistency, but students typically see meaningful gains within 4-8 weeks of focused practice with expert guidance. If you're struggling with question type recognition or pacing, tutors can often help you pick up 3-5 points quickly. Reaching higher percentiles (top 10-15%) usually requires deeper work on reasoning accuracy and handling the toughest questions, which is where personalized instruction makes the biggest difference compared to self-study.
Effective strategies include pre-reading the question stem before the stimulus (so you know what to look for), diagramming complex arguments to visualize logical relationships, and learning to eliminate wrong answers rather than always finding the perfect answer. Many high scorers also use a triage approach—tackling easier question types first to build confidence and secure points, then returning to harder questions with remaining time. A tutor can help you identify which strategies work best for your thinking style and practice them under timed conditions until they become automatic.
Most LSAT prep experts recommend completing 15-20 full practice tests before your test date, with at least half of those completed under authentic timed conditions. For Logical Reasoning specifically, you should drill individual sections regularly—ideally 2-3 times per week—to build speed and accuracy on the question types that give you the most trouble. A tutor can help you structure a practice schedule that balances full tests with targeted section drills, and more importantly, can review your practice tests to identify patterns in your mistakes rather than just drilling more questions.
Your first session typically includes a diagnostic assessment—either reviewing a recent practice test or working through a timed Logical Reasoning section together—so the tutor can identify your specific weak areas (like assumption questions, conditional logic, or time management). You'll also discuss your target score, test date, and current study habits to create a personalized plan. From there, tutors usually start with foundational question-type strategies and gradually move toward advanced techniques and full-section timing as you build confidence.
Look for tutors with strong LSAT scores themselves (typically 170+), experience teaching Logical Reasoning specifically, and the ability to explain complex reasoning in clear, accessible language. It's also valuable to work with someone who understands your learning style and can adapt their teaching—whether you need more visual diagramming, more verbal explanation, or more practice with specific question types. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors who have proven track records helping students master this challenging section.
Test anxiety often stems from feeling unprepared or uncertain about your approach—which is why consistent, targeted practice builds genuine confidence. Tutors can help you develop a pre-test routine, teach you pacing strategies that prevent panic, and practice mental resilience by working through difficult questions under timed pressure in a low-stakes environment. Many students also benefit from learning to recognize when they're spending too much time on a single question and developing the discipline to move on strategically.
Logical Reasoning requires mastering both the conceptual framework (understanding argument structure, logical flaws, and reasoning patterns) and the execution (speed, accuracy, and decision-making under pressure)—two things that are hard to improve simultaneously without expert feedback. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction lets tutors focus entirely on your specific weak points, adjust the difficulty and pacing in real time, and provide immediate correction on your reasoning process rather than just your final answers. This targeted approach is especially valuable for Logical Reasoning, where small improvements in consistency can translate to significant score gains.
