Christmas
- As a homeschooling mom to six wonderful children, I have discovered a love for teaching reading to children.
- Caregiver or parent involvement is another very important ingredient in the learning process.
About Me
As a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) working since 1998 with children and adults with various speech and language disorders, I am very passionate about helping people improve their communication skills. Obtaining my graduate degree at the Montclair State University in Communication Science and Disorders has equipped me to work with children with special needs in the New York City public schools for the last 13 years, among other settings. Seeing how much my students who had reading difficulties struggled with their academics bolstered my resolve to train in the Orton-Gillingham method with the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education. Being a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist and a Speech Language Pathologist enables me to most effectively help students improve their reading skills, since it is necessary to have good language comprehension and word recognition skills to become skilled at reading. I believe that a good evaluation is essential in getting to know my student's current level of functioning, strengths, areas for improvement, learning styles, and motivators. When I'm not teaching, I love hanging out with my husband and six children. I also enjoy reading, baking, and creating digital therapy and educational materials.
