About Me

I am degreed Materials Engineer with over 25 years of experience in Engineering and Business. I have taught and tutored High School and College Math and Science over the past 20 years. I excel at working with students that struggle with math taught through traditional means. I enjoy dispelling the fear of math that these students often have. Traditional math approaches review a concept and quickly move to solving problem. Students that struggle with math are often moved into the problem solving mode before they fully understand the concepts. This will oftentimes lead to a student learning a process to solve a problem without understanding the underlying concept. When a problem that does not align with process used to solve is present, the student ends up lost. I prefer to focus on the student understanding the concepts before we tackle problems. If the underlying concepts are fully understood, rote processes are not needed as the student has confidence to adapt to the problem presented.
