About Me

My passion is helping students grasp skills that are foundational to future learning. I especially enjoy helping students with reading skills and math skills. I not only want to help students master the skills they are struggling with, but also help them become confident in their skills. I want to instill in students the belief in their ability to master the skills needed. I have been teaching for over 25 years. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education. I taught second grade for over 10 years in the classroom. I currently homeschool my own children. I have taught or tutored all ages of children, up through high school in all subjects. I have taught hundreds of students to read by giving them the foundational phonetic skills to decode words. This is my biggest joy. It is very exciting for me to see a student finally grasp that they can read well. Math has always been a favorite subject of mine to teach to students also. I value giving students any "tricks" to help master the content they need. I want learning to be more fun, so the students are more engaged and remember more. I like to add little poems or songs with motions to help students remember the content easier. I would greatly enjoy helping your student grow in their skills. I hope to see you soon.
