I believe that each student is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulatingatmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. What I desire as an educator, is to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas byproviding an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking and invites a sharing of ideas. Inteaching higher education students, the use of multiple disciplines should be implemented suchas computers, video, audio, photographs, books and other current news resources as well as othertechnological advances, instead of relying solely on oral and written communication. If all ofthese tools are used in the classroom/virtual classroom, the learning environment takes on aproductive, diverse and creative approach where students can work together and use a variety ofresources in their guided pursuit of learning goals and problem-solving activities. I believe, as do the existentialists in free will, that a person determines his or her own futureand goals. The realists' philosophy lies in that whatever we believe now is only anapproximation of reality and that every new observation brings us closer to understanding reality. A teacher is responsible for all the consequences of their actions, and this educational role is toassist students in their personal journey. To self-discovery is having the opportunity to study things that are meaningful andchallenging to one's life and interests. Developing a curriculum around student interests fostersintrinsic motivation and stimulates the passion to learn. One way to take learning in a directionrelevant to student interests is to invite student dialogue about the lessons and units of the study. From a transformational leadership approach, I deliver a scholarly resource that enables a studentto embrace the idea of utilizing his/her uniqueness for comprehending marketing skills, businesspractices, and effective management methods. If students are interested in something they'llwant to learn more about it and a great way to help them learn more is by engaging in atransformational teaching approach.
