About Me

I have degrees in both computer science (B.S. from the University of Massachusetts) and physics (M.S. from Creighton University and Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico.) I have taught college level physics and astronomy for the past fifteen years as an adjunct lecturer, while at the same time participating in various research projects as a research scientist/software developer. My favorite programming language is Python. I enjoy tutoring students in a wide variety of scientific and technical disciplines, including: physics, astronomy, mathematics, and computer programming. As regards my teaching philosophy, I believe in building on what a person already knows, teaching general principles first and then focusing on how they apply in specific instances, and ensuring that once students grasp a particular concept, they also become confident in their ability to solve similar problems on their own. In my free time I enjoy running, practicing Yang Style T'ai Chi, reading, and spending time with my family.
