My mother has been in childcare and education since I was born. It seems all of my passion for helping youth was born within me. Since 2010, during my time as assistant camp director of a YMCA outreach camp, I have dedicated my life to enriching the minds of young children and young adults. Everything since then has been done to advance my knowledge and education skills. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014 with a degree in English. My emphasis was on literature and writing. That same year, I started teaching in Richmond Public Schools as a middle school Language Arts teacher. After two years, I transferred to Henrico County Public Schools, where I currently teach English. Recently, I finished my graduate degree in Program Specialist in Reading. This certification will allow me to be a working reading specialist to help students, teachers, and parents address problems in literacy. I look forward to assisting as many students as possible. If I can help one student, and make a different in one life, my life will be complete.
