About Me

I am a graduate of Tulane University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies and Environmental Chemistry. In addition to my undergraduate degree, I also hold a Master's of Education in Curriculum & Instruction of Secondary Earth Science from Boston College. I am currently certified in Elementary, Middle and High School Sciences Massachusetts, and I am currently working to achieve certification in Texas. I have experience teaching at both public and private schools in Texas and am familiar with both STAAR and ISEE test prep and administration. My experience includes one-on-one and small group tutoring, substitute teaching, co-teaching, and classroom teaching in grades PreK, K, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12. I have tutored reading and literacy, math, STEAM/STEM, and science to students ranging in age from PreK to 12th grade, I have co-taught reading and literacy to students ranging in age from PreK grade to 8th grade, and I have taught integrated science, STEAM/STEM, physical science, biology, chemistry, and earth science to students ranging in age from 4th grade to 12th grade. I have experience with state standardized science testing tutoring (both STAAR and ISEE), science fair and other science class projects, presentations, and lab/experiments, and English Language Arts state testing prep. I have also tutored students in SAT prep for integrated science. I am a very enthusiastic, creative, and patient teacher with a strong background in working with and teaching students with social and emotional disorders, learning disorders, behavioral challenges, and ELLs. I especially enjoy working one-on-one with students as it enables us to work together to discover their strengths and interests which allows me to more easily target areas of weakness and create unique, individualized, and exciting lessons and experiences. As an educator I truly believe in the value of helping students develop life long learning skills that can be applied throughout various disciplines and levels, and I strongly believe that tutoring is a great way to achieve immediate success as well as develop long term skills that will encourage mindful thinking and increased academic rigor. Having worked with such a diverse group of learners throughout my career, I am confident in my ability to make information and concepts accessible to all types of students.
