About Me

I am currently a junior studying chemical engineering at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Although I am not working towards an education degree, I enjoy helping fellow classmates and tutoring students in subjects where they may not feel confident in. I have the most experience in tutoring middle schoolers, and comfortable with high schoolers as well. In college, I volunteer from time to time to work with high school students who come to our organization to ask for help. Additionally, I am the oldest child in my family. I am used to helping my younger sister and brother who are two to three years younger than me with their homework. The subjects I mainly tutor in is mathematics and science. For math, I enjoy tutoring middle school math, different levels of algebra, and pre-calculus to differential calculus. For science, I can help in chemistry and physics. My favorite subject to tutor is algebra because I find it to be very logical and programs are very systematic. I am a visual learner myself, so I tend to use as much graphics tools as needed for the student. I also am very straightforward with my teaching style, especially in mathematics. However, I always ask my students how they learn things in school and am open to help them understand it in a way they would remember the material. Outside of the academia, I enjoy being outdoors and playing sports, like ultimate frisbee. I ran cross-country in high school, and continue to run long distance today as a hobby. Additionally, I like to hang out with friends, whether its shopping, watching movies, or just chatting.

Q&A with Linda

My teaching philosophy is to be patient with the students, and allow the students to find ways for themselves to understand the concepts taught. It takes a different amount of time for different students to process certain information. The best way is to be patient and guide them along the way until they understand.
