About Me
I am currently a PhD student in Comparative Literature at NYU and recently graduated from Haverford College where I majored in English. I am passionate about learning in all its forms, but most of my areas of expertise are centered in the humanities. While my research as a doctoral student ranges from early 20th century English literature to contemporary European philosophy, my tutoring interests are much more broad. I have always done quite well on standardized tests (particularly the English/Verbal portions), and love helping people prepare for them! I also enjoy tutoring reading, writing, literature and related fields at all levels! Additionally, I have great French skills (not 100% fluent, but very advanced) and am more than comfortable tutoring elementary to intermediate French. Finally, as someone who has done professional editing work, I will also add that I adore tutoring all forms of writing and have helped countless people with writing projects ranging from short stories and novellas, to academic essays and theses, to cover letters and personal statements for job and graduate school applications. I would also like to note that, having dealt with serious ADHD when I was younger, I more than understand the struggles that come with being an ADHD/ADD student and enjoy helping ADHD/ADD individuals find means to study that suit their own individual ways of learning. I had to learn many tricks along the way to make sure I stay organized, focused, and on top of my work, and I would love to share them with you! My tutoring philosophy is that everyone whether they are young or old, whether they have learning difficulties or they do not has a completely unique way of learning, and I excel at helping them find that way. No way is better or worse or makes someone more or less intelligent. I am a firm believer that "whatever works, works." Listen to music or don't, hand write your notes or type them up. The only correct solution is the one that helps you learn the material in the fastest amount of time with the most minimal amount of stress. We will figure out what works best for you.
