I obtained my BA in Classical Languages from The Ohio State University in 2013, and I am currently finishing a Master's in Classical Languages from the University of Georgia. I have spent the last year teaching several introductory Latin classes and the last two years tutoring undergraduate students in Latin grammar ranging from introductory levels to advanced levels of Caesar, Vergil, Cicero, and more. My personal favorite topic is Roman religion, which is a bit of a specialty of mine, as well as Roman poetry. My favorite authors are Catullus, Vergil, Seneca (his tragedies, not his philosophy), and Livy. My approach to both tutoring and teaching is to equip my students with the necessary tools to figure out grammar on their own. I am very patient, empathetic, and thorough, and I believe that a friendly and calm environment is best for tutoring. So that the student can express any confusion or difficulties she or he may be facing and I can then show them the best way to work through it. I often tell my students that I love the phrase, “I don’t know how to…” because that is the best way to know how to improve. When I’m not teaching or doing graduate school work, I enjoy cooking, reading most forms of fiction, learning basic carpentry, and taking my dog on small trips to surrounding state parks.
