About Me

I have a tutor's first requirement--enormous patience. I enjoy helping students learn and see them get off their sticking points. I have done free-lance tutoring over the years, including SAT preparation, where I have tutored students over their hard spots in reading and math. I have developed the skill of slowly leading the student through the solution in an almost Socratic technique rather than giving the answer. This works well both in reading/English through advanced placement English (finding irony in Oedipus) and in math (all the way from one-digit addition through advanced calculus and analytic geometry). I know my way around undergraduate math and physics well enough to step in to almost any subject.
