About Me

Instructor & GuideThese are only a couple of the hats that I wear. I am an instructor; the information that I possess needs to be handed down to my tutees. Using a variation of learning styles, I hope to give every tutee the best chance to learn the material. I am a guide; I give each tutee the means he/she needs to accomplish a task and I steer him/her in the correct direction. Individual & LearnerEach tutee is an individual capable of learning all there is to know in the world. Every tutee possesses unique qualities that are brought to the table. These qualities can be used, molded, and perfected. Tutees are learners; although it is every tutor's dream to have scholars as their tutee, I believe it is more realistic to see the role of my tutees as being that of a learner taking in the knowledge that I am providing them with. Safe & DiverseIn order for my tutees to learn the most they can, I ensure an environment that is safe and diverse. My tutees know they are safe physically and mentally; they are able to speak their minds and know their opinions count. The more diverse I am with teaching styles, the better my equipped I am to help different tutees learn. Using visual, auditory, and hands-on learning styles is something I believe to be a key component in the best learning environment. I have been tutoring for eight years. I have worked with children as young as one to adults in their forties. I am a Master level certified tutor through the CRLA and I have my Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as well as my initial license to teach Math 8-12. I also have my Bachelors of Science in Zoo Science from Friends University and an Associates degree in Liberal Arts - Math and Science - from Bristol Community College. I really enjoy tutoring and bringing a tutee from a place where they are vulnerable and confused to a place where they are comfortable and confident. I enjoy tutoring Mathematics the most out of my subjects because I've always easily understood Math and find it is where students typically have the most difficulty. Although Mathematics is my favorite, I also tutor in public speaking, science, and English. Beyond tutoring, I really enjoy reading and doing anything that involves the outdoors.
