About Me

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from SUNY Cortland along with a minor in Chemistry in the Spring of 2009. The following Fall I attended CW Post, from which I received my Master of Science degree in Adolescent Education for Biology (Spring 2011). After receiving my Master's degree, I began teaching 7th grade Science at the Jean Nuzzi Intermediate School. I taught there for 3 years and am excited to be transitioning to a high school setting in Manhattan, where I will be teaching Living Environment. I have tutored most students in reading, writing and math, but also gained experience preparing older students for the Earth Science, Living Environment and Chemistry Regents exams. My favorite subject to tutor is Science because that is my content specialty in teaching and I enjoy facilitating students' appreciation for the subject. As a teacher and a tutor I feel that questioning the student is of the utmost importance. It is important that students' develop a thorough understanding of the topic, and can demonstrate that understanding with detailed explanations. In addition, I want my students' to develop as learners through finding and using resources to further their understanding of different academic topics. Outside of teaching and tutoring I am an avid sports fan and music connoisseur. I also enjoy reading and staying updated on current events. Lastly, I am not originally from New York City, so I enjoy exploring and learning more about this wonderful city.
