About Me

I am a graduate of The New School in New York. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Arts in Context a comparison with Literature and Musicology with a minor in foreign languages, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Bass Performance. Since graduation, I tutored Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian to private students, plus I worked as a free-lance translator and interpreter and toured the world playing music. I am very passionate about tutoring foreign languages due to my international background (I am Brazilian, my mother is Chilean, and my father is Italian). I believe that with a proper personalized study plan, anyone can speak any language. I try to go beyond the book and show students the amazing things that can be done with a language. So, I find each student's personal interest (History? Music? Film?) and organize the tutoring around his or her passions as a way to make them interested in the language and pursue it beyond his or her "school work".I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life. I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing piano, yoga, and running.
