My philosophy as a tutor and teacher is to guide, rather than direct, each student's learning and to recognize and adapt to the unique abilities and levels of every student. I believe that every student's needs are different and that the best way for the tutor or teacher to address these diverse needs is to listen to the student. In addition, I think it's important to use the knowledge that students already have to allow them to discover and intuit answers that they didn't know they were capable of producing. My extensive experience as a tutor and teacher has informed this approach. I've worked for three years at a local university's writing center, and for two and a half years as an adjunct English composition professor.
