About Me

I graduated from the University at Buffalo with a B.A. in Spanish and a M.A. in Humanities with a concentration in Caribbean Studies. My passion for Spanish literature swayed me into teaching, and right away I fell in love with it. Most of my teaching experience is at the college level, where I taught from beginning to advanced levels in several schools in the Rochester area. Throughout my teaching years, I have learned that understanding my students is the most important element of teaching. Therefore, I try listening to their needs and grasping their interests, allowing me to approach them on a more personal level. This gives me the opportunity to introduce the material in the best way possible while presenting cultural elements. Furthermore, as a native Spanish speaker and one who has experienced the frustrations of learning a foreign language, I make every effort to keep my students' motivation high. Hence, giving them the confidence necessary to use the knowledge obtained to apply it beyond each session. Teaching is a big part of me, but in my free time I enjoy reading novels, writing my blog, watching movies, and spending time with family. I also love traveling and the outdoors.
