I believe that science should be made fun and relevant. In my teachings I use as many real life examples as possible. I do not emphasize memorization, but rather an understanding of the process and the relationships that exist. If one tries to learn science by memorization, there is simply too much information. However, if one understands the relationships that exist between factors, then one can apply a consistent process to solve the problem. I believe that all students want to know their teacher/tutor is in it with them. I strive to establish a personal connection with my students. That means I let them get to know me as a person to some degree and not just as a teacher. Once this connection is established, learning takes place at a faster pace. I am willing to do whatever it takes to help a student advance as long as the student is willing to put the effort in themself. I believe that education must be self-owned - that students have to claim their right to an education by demanding to be challenged and working to meet that challenge.
